Cut
The cut of the stone is a highly important feature when selecting your diamond. When a diamond is cut to good proportions, light is reflected from one facet to another and then dispersed through the top of the diamond.
Color
Diamonds are found in a range of colors. The most prized diamonds are colorless and, naturally, they’re also very rare. It is a totally colorless diamond that allows white light to pass effortlessly through it and be dispersed as rainbows of color.
Clarity
To determine a diamond’s clarity, it should be examined under 10-times magnification. Most diamonds contain very tiny natural birthmarks known as inclusions. The number, type and placement of inclusions are critical in determining the clarity grading of each stone. The fewer and smaller the inclusions are, the less likely it is that they will interfere with the passage of light through the diamond, and the more beautiful the diamond will be.
Carat
The carat is the unit of weight for diamonds and it’s equal to 200 milligrams. Diamonds are also measured in points with one carat equaling 100 points thus a diamond with 75 points weighs .75 carats. However, two diamonds of equal weight may have a very unequal value, depending on their cut, color and clarity. Quality is not determined by weight alone. |
